VoIP Lines and Calls
Accessing VoIP lines and calls is an essential cost saving excercise for today’s businesses. Reduce your line rental costs with the benefit of multiple direct dial numbers (DDI) including free 08 numbers with one SIP account at a very low cost. These numbers can be for any area code you wish regardless of location and taken with you instantly from one location to another without porting charges etc. VoIP numbers may also be accessed on a variety of devices such as your telephone, laptop, tablet and mobile.
- SIP trunks
W2C offers “Business Grade” internet telephony services by routing your SIP calls through the UK Internet’s core in London, we route your call to one of our many Tier one Interconnects, allowing customers to make standard calls across their internet connections as opposed to relatively expensive ISDN or multiple analogue lines.
While VoIP covers many different things, business ITSPs almost all use SIP Trunks – this is seen as a viable alternative to traditional ISDN. SIP Trunks refer to individual SIP sessions and are usually sold like ISDN30e channels. W2C offers a truly Unlimited SIP Trunk package. It allows you to have Unlimited simultaneous calls via your Broadband or Ethernet connection.

Using our SIP Trunk not only are the call charges in line with or cheaper than competitive CPS (Carrier Pre-Select) rates, but increasingly they are Free! This is because our IP to IP calls do not cross over from one network to another and are not subject to the usual gateway charges. International calls are also very competitive starting at 2p minute for the most popular destinations.
This means that as more and more people turn to VoIP for their telephony, paying for standard fixed line charges may be a thing of the past.
- Carrier Pre-Selection(CPS) and call charges
Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS) allows you to choose which telecommunications provider you want to carry your voice calls, you keep your existing phone numbers and continue to make calls as usual.
Carrier Pre-Selection uses network access technology, so traffic originating from your site will be routed directly to your chosen network with no need for prefix codes. The “selection” of the preferred provider is done automatically at point of entry (the local exchange) to the public voice network.
Certain types of call are not carried via CPS as they are BT services and included in the rental charges. These include calls to emergency numbers, operator assistance, directory enquiries and number ranges used for flat rate Internet access (those starting with 0844 04 or 0808 99). You will continue to have access to these services and any charges will appear on your BT bill.
BT will still own, run and bill for the physical phone line. Your phone number will remain the same and you will simply receive a separate bill from us instead of BT (for calls).
BT charge a connection fee of about 5p per call. We do not charge any call connection fees for its CPS service and calls are billed on a per second basis. Calls to land lines are 2p peak rate per minute; BT is usually between 4.5p to 5p per minute.
